Besides being a Savage Coach, Julie is a Certified Trainer with NV Personal Fitness Training and has been involved in the nutrition and fitness industry over the past 30 years. Julie holds a BS in Food, Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Connecticut and a MS in Clinical Dietetics from New York University. In 1983, while working as a Registered Dietitian in private practice, she became a certified aerobic instructor to get a free gym membership and her passion for fitness was born. She was recruited to work as a Health Promotion Specialist for employee fitness centers in New York and Connecticut.
Two years ago Julie and her husband challenged each other to be in the best shape of their lives before they turned 50. Julie turned to Cathy as a Lifestyle member with no desire to compete but just for a little extra personal push. The “Savage Sisterhood” opened her eyes to a whole new meaning of what it meant to be fit. A new goal was sparked, to do her first competition in Fitness. With no experience in gymnastics and no dance lessons since she was a teenager, it was an amazing physical and personal growth experience for her as she step out on stage this past April. You see, Julie was told 5 years earlier she had arthritis in her hips (from all that Jane Fonda Aerobics!) and would be headed towards hip replacements in the near future. She also competed in Figure that show and placed 3rd in her class. Since then she has gone on to place 3rd Figure NPC Rhodes Island; 4th Figure, Masters and 5th Bikini Masters FAP Miami; and 1st in Bikini Masters, 3rd in Bikini Short Class NPC New Hampshire. So much for hip replacement!
Julie loves that she gets to live her dream of helping women of all ages reach their personal best.
