I hear you, you’re busy all day long, you get home exhausted and ask yourself what have you accomplished today – admittedly some days nothing at all. Yup been there done that.
Seriously, where did the time go, and why didn’t I get anything done? I don’t say this to make anyone feel bad, it’s said to say it’s time to change the story and start to get shit done!
Eat the elephant one piece at a time
Eating an elephant whole is impossible, but when you break it down into bite-size pieces it becomes much more doable and you skip the freak out. The same principle can be applied to your fitness.
It’s really easy to get your plan and freak out. Instead take a look and see what’s possible for you right now. Say it’s eating breakfast. Focus on breakfast until you have mastered that and then move on the next thing. Step by step you will achieve your goal.
Create a detailed timeline
Time blocking is the bomb dot com. Break down and schedule your day into half-hour increments. Fill in your timeline each night so that you can hit the ground running the next day.
Use your most productive time wisely
We all have times of the day where we are more productive. Pay attention to that time. Are you a morning person, a night owl? What ever one you are, do you most difficult task during your most productive time. You will have less stress and have a sense of accomplishment.
Eliminate procrastination in the first place
Are you easily sidetracked? Eliminate the source of the distraction. Is it email, checking social media, text messages??
When I need to get stuff done, I put my phone on airplane mode so I’m not distracted by the dings. I will also leave it in another room. Turn your email notifications off so that way you can focus completely.
If you don’t have much self discipline there are number of apps you can use to completely cut yourself off of emails and social media. Here are a few to start.
Just do it!
Get ‘er done! You can’t procrastinate your way to success. All the planning, strategizing and hypothesizing in the world won’t accomplish anything if you don’t take ACTION. Do you suffer from analysis paralysis, where you analyze something to death to keep from doing it. Just pick one thing and go for it!
